About PassMark
PassMark is a solution from RSA, a worldwide leader in identity assurance and access control, as well encryption and key management. It is used by a large number of financial institutions, including Bank of America and ING Direct, and has been adopted by FISERV as its multi-factor authentication solution.
PassMark provides a set of features that address online fraud. First, it protects customers against “phishing” by showing the customer a special image selected by the customer, which allows him or her to verify that their financial institution's website is not a phishing site. Second, it allows the customer to register his or her computer as a second factor of authentication. If the customer logs in from a computer that is not registered, PassMark asks the customer to answer additional security questions.
The primary drivers to introduce enhanced authentication are to address customer perceptions about online fraud, and the future risks of new online payment methods.
